SUMMARY:Grow Your Own Microgreens Workshop
DESCRIPTION:For this workshop we will be learning about how you can grow microgreens at home. \n  \nMicrogreens tend to be promoted in higher end food health shops and often come at a premium cost. But growing them need not be that expensive. These little greens are healthy superfoods\, packed with nutrients and flavours\, and make great salads\, garnishes and stir-fries. \n  \nWe will be going through the general simple methods to grow these at home on your window sills. We will grow some together for you to take home. In about 2 weeks\, you will have some delicious microgreens to eat. \n  \nAfter you’ve sown your microgreens\, check out the Invertebrate Macro Photography exhibition in the ecology hut and pick up a nature treature hunt sheet and go off exploring in the Ringway Woodland. \n  \nThe session if free\, but please register which timeslot you would like to attend here.\nTimeslots are: \n11.00 am to 11.30 pm \n11.30 am to 12.00 pm \n12.00 pm to 12.30 pm \n12.30 pm to 1.00 pm \n1.00 pm to 1.30 pm \n  \nThis will help us ensure we manage numbers per session and bring the right amount of resources for the event. \n  \nThe workshop will take place outside in the garden of the Ringway Community Centre \n  \nThe popup cafe in the main hall will also be serving lunch!

SUMMARY:Exhibition of Grove Park's Invertebrates
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Monday 25th October 10 am-12 pm to discover the world of invertebrates found in Grove Park with our macro-photography exhibition. These photos have been captured by Pedro on the Wild Rangers team who will join us to talk about all these amazing mini-beast finds\, all recorded as part of our citizen science work. \nThe photography reveals so many interesting things about these beautiful creatures\, especially their art forms. Patterns in nature have long been known to promote calm and wellbeing. \nAccording to new analysis by the Natural History Museum the UK has only half of its entire biodiversity left\, putting it in the bottom 10% of the world’s countries. This trend must be reversed. Invertebrates are so vital to a healthy food production system\, whether they are pollinating our crops or churning and decomposing our soils to make a healthy growing medium. You can’t have food growing without the help of these mini-beats. \nFind out about our plans to increase biodiversity with improvements to be made to the Ringway Garden and give us your feedback of the initial design ideas. \nTake home a wild flower seed ball to create your own pollinator meadow ready for spring. \nBetween 10 am to 11 am\, you will have a chance to look at the exhibition (both printed and on screen) and look through a macroscope at some specimens. Then at 11 am join a walk with Pedro and Stephen to retrace some of the transects where these species were recorded\, through the Nature Reserve. \n  \nThe workshop is free\, but if you’d like to come along\, please complete the booking form here.

SUMMARY:30th July - Mud and Creepy Crawlies
DESCRIPTION:In this session we discover where clay comes from and how it forms mud to support millions of creepy crawlies. We look at fossilised clay mud balls and investigate all the weird & wonderful mini-beasts found in our woodland – all which come in different shapes and sizes. \n\nThrough clay techniques such as pinching and coiling we will then create our own mini-beast sculpture to take home\, inspired by all the creepy crawlies we find.\n\n\nPlease note\, this session is for kids only. We recommend ages 7 years upwards\, however 6 year olds can attend if they are generally happy staying and doing structured activities without parents. There are general nature-based activities\, including working with clay that children of all ages can be involved in\, interpreting them in their own way. \nTo book\, plese download the booking form from the What we Do page and return by email to hello@wildrangers.org.uk. SUMMARY:3rd July - Family Day - Treasure Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Join a family fun day. We will set off from Camp Nesbit and follow the treasure trail to Grove Park Nature Reserve and the Railway Children Embankments. We will hunt for natural treasures in the different habitats on the way. We return to camp and learn how to make nature imprinted clay pinch pots and clay seed bombs.  This sensory exploration of natural materials is a great way to get children discovering textures in nature which can then inspire creative works with clay. The aim is to get kids moving\, touching\, listening\, noticing\, and interacting with the outdoors in a totally different way\, encouraging them to use and develop their observation skills. Scavenger hunts are great at helping children pay more attention and awareness to their surroundings and the environment. \n  \nPlease note\, there are no age restrictions for family days. There are general activities\, including working with clay that children of all ages can be involved in\, interpreting them in their own way. Younger children will be led by parents in the way they know them best. \nTo book\, plese download the booking form from the What we Do page.
