What a fun day with the Butterfly Conservation Trust, learning all about butterflies. We started off with a tour from the Ringway Woodland Gardens and ended up at the chalk embankments of Grove Park Nature Reserve, seraching for all the different butterflies that live in the different habitats along the way. We were also searching for the hidden butterfly sculptures placed in the woodlands!
We had an action packed afternoon, planting some Bird’s-foot trefoil seeds to take home to help attract butterflies in our own garden, including the common blue, wood white, clouded yellow, and dingy skipper, and green hairstreak.
We explored the different moths captured in the moth trap set the night before, and then let them go.
And we created amazing butterfly art with beautiful pressed flowers.
